So I just finished putting together a new system from scratch.
Asus P5k Deluxe
E6600
G.Skill DDR2 4g kit
Evga 8800 GTX
When I plugged in the system, the Asus on-board power led turned green, according to the manual this is to indicate normal operation.
When turning on the power, all of the chassis fans begin to spin, as well as the CPU fan. About 3 to 5 seconds in, I hear a beep noise and the system powers down automatically. The monitor does not display anything.
I've checked to make sure the 24pin power was secure, as well as the 8pin 12v line. I also checked the ram and the video card to make sure they were secure as well. I've also tried unplugging everything but the video card, ram, and cpu. Still nothing.
After some fiddling, I noticed that the video card's fan only "begins" to spin up, but seems to stop.. and then I hear the beep and the auto power down.
I'm wondering if the video card is possibly not functioning? The timing between the gpu fan spin up/down and auto power down is rather close its hard to tell if the fan is just only beginning to spin up before the power is cut or if the power is cut due to the video card not working .... if that makes sense.
