New Computer. What OS?

I have Windows 7 64 RC and will be building a new computer soon. I want to know whether I should go with Win 7 64 RC or Vista 64 as my primary OS.

My biggest worry is security. I may not have the money for Win 7 right when it comes out, so I could be using windows 7 until early 2010. Will MS be providing security updates for the RC, or am I crazy to think that would happen?

This is a much smaller worry--I probably don't really care much if the answer is no--but will there be an easy install that preserves programs and settings when I finally do get the full version?

I haven't yet used Win 7 RC but everything I hear makes me think I'll like it, and I usually enjoy now and shiny when it comes to computing.

My current hard disk, which I will most likely be re-using is too small to dual boot. I keep all my user data on a separate partition, which I believe will protect me if it borks, but I've never really heard that it has any serious stability issues that I need to worry about. It also means that reinstalling will be relatively painless if that needs to happen.

I will double check to make sure my devices have drivers for Win 7 before I install. If not, obviously I'll just go Vista.

Edit: I use my computer a lot, both for work and play. There's nothing on my computer that I can't replace, except stuff that I regularly back up. So if everything went to hell, it would be a pain in the ass, not the end of the world.

It looks like you already have Vista64? If so, I'd just keep that. Imo there's not enough difference in Win7 to warrant an upgrade. I also prefer Vista. Win7 isn't bad, and if I bought a computer that had it preinstalled I'd keep it, but if given a choice I'd get Vista.

ViW7 all the way - I wouldn't install RC, go with RTM, if you can not get your hands on it then go for Vista and upgrade to W7 later.
