Hi,
I'm getting a venice 3200 from monarch that has not shipped yet. I originally got a XFX6600 gt PCI-e. Now that the x800xl went down in price to $250 should I get that one instead? Is it worth the $70 extra for it? Also I heard people having trouble with the XFX cards...games freezing.

I'd recommend it. The x800 is going to perform better and it will outlast the 6600GT. For only $70 more it seems very reasonable to me.
 
If returning your 6600 GT isn't too hard, i would certainly go for it.

For $70 more, you have a far better card 😀
