new computer says it posts, but does it really?

I just built this computer. Turn it on, it all lights up, CPU fans spin, case fans spin, Video card fan spins, but otherwise is considered a boat anchor. There is no display on the monitor. There are no beep codes. The motherboard LED displays "FF", which the manual considers boot.

Things I have tried...
1)I have reseated the video card twice to make sure.
2)took out one ram stick.
3)cleared the CMOS via jumper movement.

I'm not gonna lie to you... I may have gooned the CPU when installing it. I first put on too much thermal paste(doh), then while taking it off, I accidentally bend the pins (double doh). I managed to carefully bend them back into place and voila, it eventually fit into the socket after a couple of minor adjustments. Do you think that's where my problem lies?

system specs
cpu: amd64 3200 989
motherboard:soltek K8TPRO-939
ram: gig of dual channel corsair
video card: nVidia 6600
case: raidmax scorpio 868 w/420watt ps

...meh, rest isn't important right now.

any ideas?

Also try a quality-brand power supply such as Enermax, Antec or Fortron that has ample wattage and particularly on the 12-volt line.

Bigger picture: is your CPU the 90nm core or the 130nm core? because some mobos won't run a 90nm model without a BIOS update.

I can't really swap parts right now, cause I don't have any extra 939s around or any ps...

it does have the 90nm core. However, the BIOS updates on the soltek website are to fix memory compatibility issues, and do not mention any issues with the core. also, if I were to flash this bios, how would I do it with out seeing anything on my screen?

On some boards to get it to post with a 90nm cpu you can only have one stick of memory in until you flash the bios. Try that and see if it works.

try connectiong ONLY your motherboard and video (if needed) and then push the power button. disconnect everything else including hard drives from the power supply

Yeah, I've tried with one stick (see first post). no dice. :(

Check every wire on the PS connector to make sure the pins didn't get pushed back.

Read my story here. It's a lot to read, but scroll to the middle where you see the PS connector.

I'll check it out but I doubt that's the problem. My cpu fan spins. and the motherboard gives me the LED code of "FF". I'm at work now, so I can't try this stuff right now... Good ideas everybody... keep em' comin.

I think another thing I'll try is trying the vid card in another pc. also, maybe reseating the cpu... and checking those pins again... arrgh. not looking forward to that one.
