*Fixed, ended up being a bad power supply*

PC turned off while installing WindowsXP. Tried to power back up, it didn't to turn on. I went to the back of the computer, unplugged power then plugged back in, power turns on for like a millisecond then shuts off; and it continues to do this. I have tried clearing the BIOS, reseating all connections, and just powering on with only the motherboard plugged in with no success. If you have any suggestions, please help. Thank you!

System Specs:
AMD Athlon XP 2000+
Shuttle MN31N
256MB PC2100 Crucial DDR
Maxtor 40GB 7200RPM
Generic 450W PSU

Hm I had a problem like that not long ago--turned out it was my PSU crapping out. Though you might resurrect your system by taking the CMOS battery out and letting it sit for a while (I would put the jumper onto clear cmos & disconnect power first). Might also take the motherboard out and sit it on cardboard to make sure it isn't grounding on something in the case.

Make sure you reset the CMOS. Then, try taking out and putting the motherboard back in, to make sure there were no electrical shorts. Main thing, remain calm, I've been in your shoes you will figure it out. Good luck!

Eh, I am not really to worries about it. I am jsut trying to help a friend out with this. Tried resetting the CMOS already. The computer worked for about 2 days then his VERY old hard drive died. He ordered a new one, installed it, it botted fine. It even ran through some of the Windows setup (clsoe to the first reboot needed during setup). Then just shut down.
