New Computer, New Problems

Just put together my new computer last night, and have already run into a pretty big problem. While copying a rather large file from the network to one of my hard drives I received a write error, and when the computer recovered it showed the drive as being empty (although it still reported the correct amount of used/free space). I rebooted the computer and now it doesn't show up in windows at all. It does, however, still show up in BIOS.

Here are the details on the computer:
3800 X2
EPoX 9NPA-Ultra
2x 512 OCZ Value 1T 2.5 4 4 8
FSP 450W PSU

Both my hard drives are Maxtor 120GB PATA. The drive in question is hooked up to the SATA via an adapter.

I am not using the NForce drivers for IDE, and as far as I know I'm using the generic Windows adapter for SATA as well. So far I've tried updating the BIOS, and double checked the power/data connections on the drive. I've also tried switching from SATA port 1 to port 3, but no dice there either. Anyone have any ideas?

It looks like it may have been the SATA adapter. Either way, got the data off the drive and repartioned it. It's now working in PATA.
