New computer freezing on:

its a new Gigabyte mobo, it booted once, got through windows partially then formated the drive, then on a reboot it freezes on the step after Verifying DMI pool Data.

What is the reason for this? i have the boot sequence as CD-Rom, HD, FDD (its a sata HD)

is the reason for this that it is an SATA drive??
