Creative Labs Anhiliator Pro 2 Geforce 2 GTS 32mb
256 MB Pc133 Mushkin w/Siemen Infineon(2pcs)
Maxtor 40gb ATA/100
Antec Midtower KS282 with 300w power supply
Globalwin FOP32 heatsink/fan
Creative Labs 48x (from old comp)
Plextor CDRW 8x32x6 (from old comp)

btw...i'm going to use my old trinitron monitor for a couple of months and the monitor has speakers. Thanks for reading!

Looks like a great system.

You didn't state if the hard drive was 5400 or 7200RPM. If it's not 7200RPM then spend the extra cash for a hard drive that is. It looks like you know what you are doing though. 🙂

OOps...sorry for posting twice. Got anotehr Q... Is it worth it to get a 64mb Geforce 2? If it is, which brand would you recommend?

hmmm read Anand's review of the card and find out 🙂 if you don't play Quake3 I wouldn't spend the insane extra amount of cash....it won't get very far to be honest 🙂

Several things:

1. Replace the Maxtor with one of the new IBM Deskstar 75GXP HDD's that are coming out. That's the new king of the hill.

2. Get DSL or cable internet access if you're on the www a lot. Even if you have to cut back on HWare. It depends on what you do with the PC.

3. Consider installing 2 monitors. It depends on how you'll use the PC but I've found this just great myself. I think it's catching on, and it's easy to implement.

4. The ASUS A7V isn't out quite yet. You might want to hold off a bit, since you've waited years, and check the comparative reviews AnandTech is sure to come up with and pick a board based on that. The mobo is so basic you want to get the best. I'm not knocking ASUS, but it is often better to wait a bit instead of buying the first model to hit the market. Otherwise your timing is almost perfect.

What about the Abit KT7, I do not know whether Abit's reliability would be any better than before

I would still go with the Maxtor Drive.

Apart from that, I can see no faults.
