well i'm in the market for a new system, to upgrade from my current;
tyan s2460
dual 1.4 tbirds
1gb pc 2100 ddr
2x 80gb wd se's

i just started the 3d part of my degree (graphic communications) along with a couple of digital audio classes and a macromedia director class, so i've got about 3 years of rendering ahead of me... atleast :)

price wise it is about the same for dual 2.4 xeon's vs a single 64 3400+, really the only thing that keeps me wondering is the 64bit of the amd.

i was thinking something along the lines of;

dual xeon 2.4's or amd 64 3400+
1.5gb ram (corsair xms)
2x 160gb seagate sata hdd's
dvd +/- rw
and the current cdrw's, video and audio that i have (gf4 ti4600 128mb, audigy plat ex, samsung 52x)

what do you guys think? also, is there any talk of a dual 64 board coming out soon? maybe i'll hold off for a month or so if that is the case :)

thanks!
