New computer, couple Q's

Hi all!

I just got a new Dell e1505 laptop. I need to reinstall windows to get all the junk they put on there off and also to remove an empty 17 gig partition that they use as a restore portion, unless you order the actually windows CD (which i did, hence the emptyness).

My two questions are:

1. Is it as simple as putting in the disc and running an install? (i.e., installing any program?)

2. I'm thinking of downloading and installing the Vista Beta just for the fun of it. On the laptop, the only programs i run with any regularity are Firefox, Media Player, Yahoo Music Engine, Photoshop CS2, and Office 2003. Is there any problems with holding off on the install of Xp and doing vista for a while?

My xp version is MCE, by the way.

Thanks!
