New computer but low benchmarks. Help!

Ok situation is a just got my new computer built and picked it up.

P4 2.53
ASUS P4PE
512mb Corsair 3200
Triplex GF4 ti4200
WDJB 120GB

I have win XP installed with service pack one. Apart from installing SP1 partioning my drives, installing some Nvidia drivers and loading 3Dmark I have done nothing else to to comp and my 3Dmark 2001SE score was 7483......This is nowhere near where it should be according to the Online results browser i should be getting atleast 10-11500.

What am I missing? Are there any critical updates I may have missed? I ran 3Dmark at all settings default with Nvidia 30.82 drivers.

Any BIOS settings that should be checked, as I havent touched it yet?

Any advice is appreciated.

Did you use default settings in 3DMark?

Most benchmarks are obtained using default settings.

Thats the only thing I can think of.. Its only 09:12 here so i have plenty of time to think.

i d/led the 41.09 drivers and it boosted it another 500 points, but still, is this slow very slow? Its hard to tell because when you use the online results browser it doesnt tell you if they have O/Ced their card much.

EDIT: looking at these charts at toms i'm definatly a bit off hes using a 4200+ 2.2ghz P4 and is getting 10000, no O/Cing.

Do you have Anti-Aliasing enabled in the nVidia Drivers? Also, to be sure, try to reset every setting in nVidia Control Panel to its default settings and compare the results.

My system is somewhat similar to yours, such as Asus P4PE + 1GB of Corsair XMS PC3200 + GeForce 4 Ti4600 + 15,000rpm SCSI Cheetah 15K.3 hard drive, and I'm getting around 12832 marks, but I doubt only the amount of RAM and faster hard drive can make THAT much of the difference.

here is the link

Yeah everything is set to default. 🙁

This is really getting to me. I have no idea what it could be.

Uhh no that is not normal. I have a xp 1700+ w/ a gf3 ti 200 and get at LEAST 7000 on 2001se. At least I hope to god that your score isn't normal, if that's the case then I'm not upgrading for a LONG time!

Only thing i see diff between my results and andrey's (apart from the FPS) is in the system config where mine says that the APG mode being used is N/A rather than 4x. The other system differences dont justify my low score.

Could this be the problem?

Well I do agree that there is somthing wrong i have the same board and proc and mushkin 2700 but with a gf4 ti4600 win2k and i get
somwhere around 13,500 maybe see if you can get another card to try out, and check your bios settings agp aperture size prolly should be set to 64mb and try this site good info here-> link

Did you install the INtel chipset drivers? Latest version?

Get them HERE.
And installing the application acceleration software wouldn't hurt either.

As people say, check mobo drivers and stuff. I get crap scores unless i install the VIA drivers for my Abit mobo, so make sure you're mobo stuff is all up to date as well.

I have a few...

#1 - your title is deceiving. you don't have low benchmarkS, you have a low 3dmark score. Have you tried any application benchmarks rather than 3dmark which is a fairly unreliable synthetic?

#2 - I assume you've read Madonions FAQ on the topic?

#3 - Perhaps benchmark the UT2003 demo and post those results, as it's a game you can actually play. You could compare your results with these. Details on the benchmark setup are here..

Definitely install the Intel INFs and the Intel Application Accelerator. That will solve it, I'm 99% sure.
