New computer build with old HDs issue

I built a new tower, mobo, cpu, psu, ram but I used the old hard drives. There are 4 of them, anyway, when I go to explore them the computer re-indexes them so it takes a half minute. I never had this problem before, when I went to explore it was instant.

Is there a setting I should look at to keep I'm using the same os as well, win7 ult.

Do these drives all have at least 25% free space, and have they been defragged by your current OS? Are they all indexed?

I have that problem, too... sort of. When I open the recycle bin, for example, the system has to spool up all the drives before it will open... it takes a few seconds, but not 30!
