CPU: Core I7 920
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD4P
DVD Burner: Plextor PX-850SA SW
Computer Case: Supermicro CSE-743TQ-865B
Graphics Card: EVGA GTX 285 2Gig version 02G-P3-1185-AR
Ram: OCZ 12Gigs Total OCZ3P1333LV12GS
Sound Card: AuzenTech X-Fi Forte 7.1
Raid Controller: Areca ARC-1231ML-2G

Those are the items I've purchased so far. What I'm needing help with is which hard drives should I go with. I was thinking if I go with VR's I would do 3 in raid zero configuration. If not those hard drives I was thinking 5. Just not sure. Also looking for a good 24 inch gaming lcd.

Thanks,
David

what is the purpose? just gaming? just use fast 7200rpm drives, maybe an ssd for OS if you want. back them up to a seperate 1tb drive.

3 VR's in raid 0 means three times the chance you will lose all your data. you can do that, but keep in mind that backup becomes REALLY important unless you just to do this for games, apps, and OS, and don't mind reinstalling all of it if one drive fails (there's usually some pretty important stuff on my OS/apps drive that could easily be lost forever, dunno about you).

what psu are you using? look for at least a high quality 500w. preferably a little more to get some good overhead and have room to use that SLI mobo should you ever wish to.

The SuperMicro case came with the power supply. The power supply is rated at 865 Watts. Haven't taken a look at the power supply itself to see whom made it.

Well I thought about getting an SSD but I don't care for the thing to run dog slow after a few months of use. My only concern is sustained write speeds. Thats why I thought about getting 3 VR hard drives instead of going with slower drives but having more of them. Thats one of the reasons I went with the raid controller that I did.

Though I do play games also from time to time. Thats why I was saying about a good gaming lcd. Which I still need help with also.

Thanks once again
