"new" computer at work and issues with DPAD

ok I format our "new" POS computer at work (a compaq) that had vista on it

Vista isn't friendly with some of our programs so it was sitting there unused but I was using an older P4 with 128megs of RAM - don't ask me how but it was running 😛 but I figure why keep using my old POS when I can use a newer & faster POS

Did my format / XP Pro install - then some hunting for drivers as its supposed to be a Vista only machine

Get it all set up and running - install DPAD (i don't think work PC's should be idle ever 😎 )

and no matter what I did when trying to run muon in the background I get the error stating that i need to create the user.txt file

I created one - and copied the bugging thing into the main folder, and the 2 sub folders (1 in each) just to make sure

rebooted, deleted the file(s), recreated them - NADDA...zip...zilch

*help* me

I wonder if it is that thing with Notepad that you can end up with a file named user.txt.txt

Make sure that file extensions are shown so that you can see that it is named right.

i'll be sure to try that out when i get back to work - buggy notepad!!!

That wouldn't be just a NotePad issue would it? More of just showing all file extensions?

Didn't some one just post a similar issue recently? Don't remember which thread though...

edit - here it is

If you run the graphical version (just the once muon1.exe) it ought to give you a box where you can type your name in and it'll create the file for you...

Best approach is just to make one user.txt and copy the file around if you have more than one install (you can copy config.txt too for that matter, if you want to settings the same).

I did get it working this morning - it was the .txt.txt issue noted above

why oh why did i double extension - thanks for the help everyone and I'm back up running DPAD for [TA]
