I just build a new comp but it wont boot into windows, any reason?

It's a cheap system with AMD 64 3200
Refurb Motherboards > NF4ST-A9 from newegg
OCZ gold pc3200
9800XT

I tried many ways, install from scratch, using norton ghost image, linux on CD, setup for XP cd....

Everytime computer reboot before get into windows or graphic interface.

Any reason or idea? I'm thinking is the refurb motherboard. But why?

Please help.

Thanks.

Since you obviously have another computer on line, may I suggest you search for a Hiren's Bootcd 7.7.iso CD which is widely available for free download. By switching in the BIOS to boot from a CD you can boot from it which will among other things answer your question of whether your refurb motherboard is bad or not, but more importantly has a wealth of troubleshooting tools available.

This particular board has a special slot called an XPG or "Xtreme Graphics Port" slot. Xtreme Graphics Port is Biostar's unique engineering solution of adding limited AGP graphics card support to the nForce4 chipset. However, the XGP slot is not compatible with all AGP cards. Some AGP video cards can produce resource conflics with the PCI-E slots. If you are using an AGP video card, this could be the problem. It could also be a bad graphics card as well.

Thanks for all the replies,

Just got an error message after trying different things:

From Microsoft support, CAUSE:

If this issue occurs after the first restart during Windows Setup, or after Setup is finished, the computer may not have sufficient hard disk space to run Windows.
? If this issue occurs after the first restart during Windows Setup, or after Setup is complete, the computer BIOS may be incompatible with Windows.
? Incompatible video adapter drivers.
? Damaged RAM.
? A damaged device driver or system service.
? If the issue is associated with the Win32k.sys file, it may be caused by a third-party remote control program.

does your computer start up :? Yup.
Have you formated your Hard drive :? I did using HD software.
Have you done a full windows xp installation :? It rebooted before I get into the setup.
Is this is your 1st time installing a windows :? No, I reinstall windows many times.

Hiren's Bootcd 7.7.iso CD
Yes. Going to try that after this. I'm using Ultimate boot cd to ran few test including hd and mem. Hope Hiren will provide more tools. Thanks.

What power supply are you using?
Cheapo Ultra 500W X-connect PSU.

Yes, that could be a problem too. Since microsoft support has that as one of the reason.

My graphic card is sapphire 9800 pro flashed to XT. I know it's not on the compatible list from the XGP. How can I check? Anyway to test?

Thanks.

Actually support for the XGP slot is extremely limited to only the cards they have posted on the BIOSTAR web site here If its not on this list, then it probably wont work. As far as I know there is no way to test for compatibility. You may just want to pick up a PCI-E graphics card to make sure that this is not the root of the problem.
