new comp fezzes during games

i just built a new computer
amd 3400 64
msi kv8 neo platinum
evga 6800 u 61.77
1 gig cosair xmspt pc3200
550 thermaltake psu
when i try and play ut2k4 and farcry it will play for about 3-5 min frezzes then contiues after about 6 sec then repeats the process again and again . it doesnt do it with call of duty ,q3,cs or halo. some times the sound contues but video stop
ive updated the bios in the vid card from evga no help
set the 2d and 3d clock settings to the same
dx 9.b and 9.c do the same
cpu temps between 40-49c
can some one help me fix this prob thanks

Try it with the side off the case and a small fan blowing in..... sounds heat related

Hi,

Sounds nasty! You seem to have the right idea. The only other things I can think to check (other than playing with obscure BIOS settings) are:

1. Make sure your games are patched up to date

2. Make sure (I'm sure it is) that your HD has enough free space for paging if needed.

3. Try relaxing your RAM timings in case your RAM isn't performing as well as it should.

It does sound like some sort of driver issue - but I can't see it listed in Nvidias documentation.

i got both patched to the latest
got 120 segate baricuda partioni into 4 window still has 8 gig left in that partion
my ram is 2.2.2.5 ive set it to that and i set it to auto in the bio
id understand it if it was just farcry but my comp is a power house and should run it but it dows it with ut24k i could run that no prob with my old system a 1 gig cpu and a 64 meg vid card

with the heat probem i have 2 intake fans and 2 out with one more in the case blowing on the ram and cpu and like i said the cpu is 40-49 and the vid card is 39-42c
