Ok, as stated in an earlier post, I'm looking to build a new gaming/multi-tasking computer for college [I'm majoring in computer engineering].

Here's the details:

-About a $1,300 budget [USD].
-Trying to make it as future-proof as possible.
-Will be doing some mid-heavy overcloking.
-Eventually it will be turned into watercooling.
-Will NOT shop anywhere but the Egg.
-Already have a great monitor / mouse / keyboard.

With that being said, here is the careful list of parts I have come up with:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Comes to about $1,250 total [USD].

See anything that needs changed, has bad reviews, etc?

Looks solid to me.

Why the Zalman cooler? I think you could get better performing coolers for less IMO...

Agree about the Zalman cooler. They're definitely overpriced.

The Xigmatek HDT-S1283 is as good as the Zalman or better, and for half the price when you figure in the mail-in rebate.

I also don't see any reason to pay for DDR2-1066 with a Q6600. DDR2-800 will give you all the headroom you need to max out the chip, and it will cost less.

I'll look into the Xigmatek.

Well it's pretty cheaply priced for the speed and I love G.SKILL.

Any recommendations for RAM?
