New Cingular Activation

Does it always require a 2-year contract?

Can I opt to sign a 1-yr and pay more for the phone? I don't see this option anywhere on their website

I believe Cingular's website only allows 2 years...

Other resellers/sites however, give you the option of 2 years or 1 year (with usually a $30 charge)

Do you have a Sams Club membership? Their prices are usually significantly cheaper w/o any rebate hassles (for instance, $69 for Black Razr OTD, and a few free phones OTD as well).

Not sure if they offer it on their website, but it's definately possible. Either through a reseller (ex. letstalk.com) or you can call them.

Thanks for the info guys, I will visit a Cingular store and see if they can do it for me.

aphex: unfortunately no, I don't have a Sam's club card. However my employer does offer discounts with Cingular so I should be able to save some money that way.

Now all I have to do is pick a phone...

I just got two phones from them today and yea I have to keep the service for two years, but I have had them for over a year now and have not had any problems. Every time I call customer service they are super nice and helpful. No reason to change that I can see.

I have had Cingular for 4, years I have always had a 1 year contract. I pay a little more for the phones, but I get new ones every year. If you want a good deal go to http://www.letstalk.com/ They have great deals. You will have to call them to get a 1 year contract. My contract is up and I'm calling them to start a new contract and get new phones.

My daughter has cingular and my wife and daughter talk for free because we both have the same service. Works for us.
