can you return it?

It's been 4 trips now. If it isn't fixed, then technically, I could invoke the KY Lemon Law. I would try another dealer at least one time before doing that though.

Watching these guys do the same thing over and over made me think of the ole "definition of insanity - doing something over and over and expecting different results".
 
Stranger things have happened but yeah if the original rotors/pads died in three hundred miles and the new pair has as well, which means you're on your third, the dealer is just grasping at straws (unlikely rotors/pads were the cause). It seems unbelievably unlikely that you actually burned through two sets of brakes in 600 (?) miles unless you are literally doing highway stop after highway stop just to piss of the dealership!

Exciting to see if the problem recurs. I bet the dealership doesn't want to see you ever again!

The 2nd set had 20 miles on them, lol. My wife took the kids and her childhood friend to eat and came home. Nothing magical or hard braking about the trip she made. Hell, she merged onto New Circle Road today at about 45 miles per hour (people travel that road at 65+). Like I said, they were still completely covered in the machine marks from the manufacturing of them as of yesterday.

I'm going to guess that the shield on back of the rotor is the cause.

I'm thinking the same thing. I may try to attach a small weight to them to see if I can dampen the sound out (assuming it returns). Don't want to void the warranty in any way.

Try just different pads maybe? Those ceramic ones are stupid that way, making sounds when they don't need to be.

that was the only solution on my old intrepid. it had the same damn issue, pissed me off. id have people telling me i needed to get my brakes done a week after i got them replaced. went to a semi pad and it stopped. of course the mess pissed me off too, especially with white rims.

certainly wortha look...... Also,I have not see a 200 yet, but earlier Sebring /Avengers had a small shield that protected the lower ball joint boot from heat..It was very common for these to get bent and rub the rotor.....and it was always when they got hot that they would move that last milimeter and make contact.
 
Hmmm.....50 miles so far on new brakes / rotors and no noise yet. Of course, I'm driving it like it's a baby diaper on the rotors right now to absolutely make sure to break them in gently over the first 100 miles or more (not that I have ever braked hard anyway in this car).

We have decided that "if it happens again", we'll take it to another dealer for ONE try (we'll explain it very well to them up front of the situation). If they don't fix it (again, if it comes back to begin with), it's KY's Lemon Law time. Too much money and time on the line for this bullshit.
