Not "happy" with the performance of my first gen i2500 graphics (dual display/hometheater is troublesome at best with a H67 B) I am in the market to upgrade.

Will Haswell desktop cpu's include a new motherboard chipset? Does anyone have details?

Yes, Z87 with 6x SATA 6G support, 4x USB 3.0. Apart from that I don't think there are significant changes in the chipset itself.

You need a new board, since the VRM is moved to the CPU.

FDI(IGP stuff) is moved from the chipset to the CPU. Chipset is 32nm compared to todays 65nm. (Saves 2-3W).

But chipset doesnt really matter as said. Its not there the performance is besides for USB/SATA.

Just get an external graphic card now, why wait?

Some people who build htpc's go for as little power, heat, and whatever else as possible. My guess is he's looking for an easy solution that would give him better performance on the cpu and gpu side without much hassle.

But besides that getting a low end, low profile gpu might save you some cash and time (if that's an option of course). Almost anything on the market will run better than the graphics on your current cpu.

Apparently Sapphire are bringing out a low profile, single slot HD7750: http://www.anandtech.com/show/6636/sapphire-mitx-and-a-budget-tahiti-gpu That should do very well for a HTPC rig.

Yes thats the issue.

Thanks for the link, not these 8 series board will work for me with native USB3.0. Many of my interphaces use prprietary uac2 USB2.0 480mbs that don't work with USB 3.0

That single slot ATI looks like it might be a better solution.

Plenty of USB2 ports too tho. The 14(4) means 10 USB2 and 4 USB3 ports.
