The current reciprocal agreement is petty. I was in shock when I got to Hong Kong and my visa cost almost $170 to enter the mainland. It's absurd.

With that said I think this is a move in the wrong direction. Have shorter visas but make them free or much cheaper.

Entering China on a visa can be quite difficult. I had two coworkers in Korea who wanted to visit China during the Christmas break. Took them a month and a few dollars to make it a reality.

One coworker came down with food poisoning, so they had to end their trip. They were cheap anyway. They went to the cheapest restaurants and stayed in a $20 a day hostel. Probably ate rat meat.

It was easy. Walked into the embassy and an hour later had a Visa. It was just the cost that was absurd. They have since lowered it to a whooping $140 but that is still unacceptable.

The issue is probably China in this case though. Even with my other nationality it still costs $80 for the visa.

Your coworker sounds like he didn't know what he was doing. I stayed in 4 star hotels for $40 a night. A hostel for $20? Sounds expensive. Everything there was cheap and the food was amazing. My average meal cost almost nothing and there was definitely no problem with the quality. To eat rat meat there you would probably have to venture below $1 a meal.

I was joking about the rat meat. I could be wrong about the cost of the hostel. I do know that they were doing everything as cheaply as possible. This is the same guy that wouldn't spend $5 for a haircut. He had his girlfriend cut his hair.

Food and lodging were very cheap. Those hand made noodle bowls were amazing and only cost like $2 so that was always an easy meal no matter where in China you were. Peking Duck in Beijing was the most expensive meal and I think it cost $45. That country is dirt cheap.

There is no chinese dollar but chinese yuan renminbi.

As of right now, $1 USD ~ $6 CNY.

From your old exchange rate, I believe you were in china around 2007-2008?

Back to the topic, as long as the chinese or anyone have money or skill, I am ok with it. Better than have million and million of illiterated peasants with no money, no skill, and no English.

I prefer Chinese in USA than females from India. Females from India are pure vipers.

The places are nice, but the people are horrible. Don't bother going to site seeing in china, unless you want to be swarm by a bunch of uncivilized chinese.
