New Challenges

Allright, i've done almost all of the challenges in RC5, OGR, Gamma Flux etc. now, but i'm kinda bored ..
Isn't there anything with AI (artificial intelligence) or something to do online?

- RC5: Kinda boring after 6 months
- OGR: Almost the same as RC5, also kinda boring after 2 weeks 🙂
- Seti@home: I'm doing this now, but it takes too long for a single block ... and i want stats 🙂
- Genome@home: Not testet yet, but the purpous looks difficult 🙂
- Folding@home: Bad client, and is almost the same en Genome@home
- GammaFlux: Real time stats are fun, but a buggy client, and not much diffrent the RC5

So is isn't there anything else then these?
Like AI, to create life with a huge community (Anandtech & the Dutch teams & all the other teams )

If you think Gamma Flux is buggy, Golem is worse. 🙁 It crashes every time I try it - but not immediately, so I don't know to stop it and give its cycles to something else. 🙁

It's an interesting premise, though. I hope they clean it up.

We over at ProcessTree/Dcypher are working on something special for you folks out there (on the volunteer side.. the pay side is doing interesting things as well)... hopefully there will be 4-5 volunteer projects at PT for you to enjoy... <evil grin>

Why are these projects "boring" to you?

The whole idea of distributed computing is to use the idle cpu time on your machine. Now, it's far from ideal, but these projects should really be "install and forget." I know that checking stats and tracking them can be cool, but really, how can something that's supposed to run in the background be "boring?" Maybe because the clients don't all throw up cpu-intensive eye-candy? Or is there something else going on.

cow-fused as usual.

euh, i can't stand it that my cpu work 100% the full time, becouse of my cooling that isn't 100% safe ... (so i need something that can give me something worth watching, so that if my cpu burns down, that it wasn't 4 nothing 🙂)

And after 6 month's RC5 also get's boring with everyday the same stats ...

I recognize that english might not be your native language, but I'm not sure what you mean.

How can "something worth watching" be related to your unstable cpu? Is this really just a question of "there's not enough eye candy for me so I'm bored" ? As for the "same stats" question...if you don't add other computers, of course your stats are going to be about the same every day...why should they be anything different? Aside from Seti@home there's no project (that I know of) that will give you any more cpu-sucking eye candy...

As for the temperature question, if your machine is /so/ unstable that you can't run dnetc I think there are bigger things to solve first. Try buying a fan.

No, not that, but i made the fans more silent, and with this config, it has a very low teperature, but the thing is that it's isn't really stable in my case itself ..
so thats why ..

Maby a little bit strange you might think, but thats not the point (there wasn't any other way avalible at that time)

But let's go on with the clients, shall we? 🙂
