Hi guys

A friend of mine has a BX slot 1 motherboard, with a celeron 450Mhz, and is looking for ways to give this system a bit more juice. I am thinking of using a faster celeron in that system.

Since I know he has 100Mhz RAM (appart from an old 66Mhz 64Mb stick which he is willing to get rid off), I believe I can use the 1.2Ghz celeron with 256Kb cache if I use a Powerleap PL-iP3 adapter, coz that celly has a tualatin core (or is it because of voltage requirement changes?).

However, does the 1.1Ghz with 128Kb cache has a tualatin core? Would it work with a normal adapter? or would I have to buy a powerleap adapter to use any celeron II?

Any input is appreciated

Does that mean I can use it with a normal adapter on a motherboard with a BX chipset?

Hola Latino,

I am currently running a MSI BX master, MSI slocket with a Celeron 850 FC-PGA. According to the BX-Master manual the board will support 733mhz and Faster cpu's.... so there should be no problem with the 1.1ghz.

Hola gorda. :p

Excellent. A Celeron 1.1Ghz will give this system a lease of life, until he gets his act together and buys that dual AMD rig he is planning to. :)

Thanks all

Just a little bit to add, Slot 1 to Socket 370 adaptors do exist for Taulatin:

Pic

Powerleap informs us this morning that they should market by the end of the year an adaptor Socket 370 FCPGA2 towards Slot 1. This Slotket baptized PL-iP3/T will have the same function as existing Slotket if not than it will make it possible to be able to use new processors INTEL of Tualatin generation engraved in 0,13 micron like Celeron-II and Pentium III-S. However Powerleap specifies that this Slotket does not function in mode SMP with Pentium III-S and that all the mother boards are not compatible. The manufacturer will hold on this subject a list of up to date compatibility."

yay :D

If you want to use a normal slocket, get one that has voltage adjustment on it. Otherwise the motherboard will have to provide the correct voltages. Not all bx boards have the ability to do this for coppermine based cpus.
