Unfortuately, rumor has it that it won't CV fans won't be happy with the direction the series is going to go in, which is a shame because the last time a metroidvania game came out was in 2008 (Order of Ecclesia) as well as the fact that I generally don't like series to change (although RE4 was an excellent departure from the original formula, and SoTN itself was a departure from the original formula). However, if IGA does it (I don't know whether he is though), then I'll probably be happy with the direction it goes in, although it would great if IGA's canon was completed.

If IGA is director, then it will be the only game I'll buy a 3DS for. However, if they have the Lords of Shadow team (or another team) do it, then I'm not going to play it

Makes sense. I wouldn't mind them changing things up, I never felt the GBA or DS games were that stellar (don't get me wrong they were ok, and did some ok things, but they seemed intent on forcing weird game mechanics that I never really liked that much), none of them really lived up to Symphony of the Night.

I want them to make a Castlevania game that has stellar controls. I think even Symphony of the Night could have been improved in that area. It wasn't terrible but still could be somewhat awkward.

Seems like they topped out in controls in was it Castlevania IV? It was one of the SNES ones. If they'd go back to that, maybe improve it, as I've always felt that jumping was a bit awkward in Castlevania, and I'd kinda like to see movement speed slightly increase as you progress.
