Not yet in stock but pre-order it anyway.

Why a hot deal? The 3 megapixel is $399 if you look anywhere else. Ritz camera decided to be pioneers with this.

$399, no sales tax, free shipping. ETA 1st week in October.

I don't know about you, but I'm getting one.

I guess you missed out on the Canon S50 (5mp) + printer bundle deal, huh? The price was $385 including tax (before 10% entire purchase coupon for some who had one).

You may also try this thread. The Casio looks pretty nice.... also very slim.... I haven't read any reviews though. Casio isn't exactly know for their cameras.

I already saw that thread. Size and style over performance with this one. I don't deny the better image quality of those two. Plus it is a great deal considering it was $499.. but the same applies with the Z4. You basically get 1 extra megapixel (and ISO400) for free.

As a matter of fact, I need a camera for a business/pleasure trip next week, but I'd prefer to have the significantly smaller Z4. It'll look good next to my small Nokia 6590 and Tablet PC. The s400 is temping though.

It's about style, holmes!

(I just saw the video with Bone Thugs n' Harmony with Phil Collins..

OH! It's a digital camera! I clicked on this thread because I wanted to know how a watch could actually cost $400. D'oh!

If you really believe stuffing extra mp to the same tiny ccd will improve the camera then you are owned by the camera manufacturer. I personally think the Z3 (3MP version) will be of better value.
Beside, retail price is never hot deal.

Well, there aren't really many stores that carried the Z3... RS was one of the only major retailers to carry it (past tense since we no longer carry it because the Z4 is due out soon). The Z4 isn't much of a better value... if it's the same price it OK I guess. The Casio has Pentax optics but because of the bundle and the fit and finish of the Z3, it was favored over at DPReview and Steve's Digicams over the Optio. The Z3 has won a few awards as best new camera.

If you can find it below retail, the Z3/Z4 is a good slim cam. Eventually the Canon S400 will go on sale at Dell again... though the price is quite a bit higher and really not originally in the same class. Most likely the new Casio CCD is to shorten delay in powerup and hopefully between shots rather than the extra MP. I just wonder how the new CCD will effect the awesome battery life the Casio has.

Yeah, their CCD's are top quality. Very good cameras. They're known for their great color reproduction.

I hope you're talking about the Canon. I would typically buy a Canon over a Pentax digital camera for quality anyday. But then again, I'm not. Z4 for style.

And just because it's a typical retail store doesn't mean that it can't qualify for being a deal. If you look anywhere else that has even started posting prices, they've been charging $499. The only places I could find were through froogle.com and $499 is the going price.

Edit: ok... I just read the MSRP is $399 set by Casio. Don't pay $499 unless you're on crack. Officially no longer a hot deal and more so a warning to stay away from companies charging $499.

Canon next new beauty SD10 should have a small form factor too, just no optical zoom. Hope it's cheaper than the quote price of $449 at dpreview. These will show up this fall at fashion shows and such. Should give you the Canon quality CCD and DiGic processor. It nice but I think I'll stick to my huge G3.
