New Case Opinions

Hi Everyone,

The other day I was trying to mount a side intake fan on my Antec 900 to throw some air directly on my graphics card. This wouldn't work because my CPU cooler kept on hitting the fan when I put the side panel back on, same goes for an ultra-slim fan. It just wouldn't fit. So I decided on not installing a side panel fan, I don't really need it anyway. As I was putting everything back together I took another look at the 900 and had a revelation which went something like this: "Wow, I never noticed just how ugly this thing is before."

As such, I'm looking to replace my case. The rig is used for gaming, specs are below. I'd prefer to buy locally from http://www.memoryexpress.com/ I can also buy from NCIX Canada if need be, just not a fan of the price of shipping on heavy cases. Price range is as cheap as I can get, with a $200 ceiling.

2500k
CM Hyper 212+
Asus P8Z68 ATX Motherboard
8G GSkill Ram
Gigabyte 7970
Old Corsair TX750 PSU
Intel 320 SSD 120GB
2x Seagate 500GB Hard drives

My Main Issues:

Space: I want something bigger. Given my non-modular PSU, I've had to cram all the extra cables, which there are a ton, at the bottom of the 900. I wouldn't mind having room to hide these cables behind a motherboard tray, or in a separate area of the case. I'm going to attempt to make the layout of my rig as clean as possible. Of course, the Corsair HX750 was on sale at my local shop last week, but I didn't act on that. I may buy a modular PSU in the future if I find one at the right price. Either way, I'd like more space. Midtower or Fulltower, either one I'm fine with.

Cooling: I'd prefer something that can keep all my components, but more specifically my graphics card, nice and cool. Noise doesn't bother me all that much, although I would prefer if I could turn everything down when I'm just browsing the internet, and then easily ramp it all up for when I'm gaming.

Appearance: As I mentioned above, I really don't like the look of the 900. It's far too flashy for me, I prefer something that doesn't look like a slot machine payout in Vegas. For the price I paid this thing has been great, but the looks just isn't for me. I don't like the LEDs on this thing, they're far too bright. This isn't to say I don't like LED lighting in a computer, I just like it when it's tastefully done.

My Choices:

Below I've narrowed down my selection a bit with some commentary, but in reality I'm very open to any input. Just because I've only mentioned Corsair cases doesn't mean I'm dead set on one.

Right now the Corsair 650D ($150) and 600T ($155) are on sale locally. I really like the look of both but am a bit wary of their cooling abilities based on a few reviews. The 500R also appeals to me, however it's roughly the same size as the 900, which is a too small.

Anyway, as I said, I'm very open to input if anyone is able to provide any. Thanks is advance!

Hi Everyone,

The 500R also appeals to me, however it's roughly the same size as the 900, which is a too small.

A couple of pictures which might help.

My PC
My Sidepanel
My PC with Sidepanel on

That's my Corsair Carbide 500R with Thermalright HR-02 Macho with TY140 fan and the sidepanel is an unmodified 500R panel with a Bitfenix Spectre Pro 230mm fan fitted to it.

Just checked and the Macho is a couple of mm taller than the Hyper 212+.

So it should fit without a hassle if you want the 500R and side fans (The 500R comes with a 200mm fan but can fit 2x120 or 2x140mm fans)
