its the first case thats grabbed my attention in a while. bought an antec sx835 (i think) 13 months ago and am happy with it. but this rig will go to my son in about 6 months and the p160 will be my next case.

$99 plus shipping at www.pagecomputers.com is the lowest price I've found so far. Generally it's around $120. Keep in mind that this is without a power supply. I already convinced my girlfriend to get it for me for christmas :)

Should get mine on tuesday, looks a tad big, we will see... all the other features look like the almost perfect case.

Personally I can't imagine why either, but the biggest reason I've seen most people give is that it's aluminum, followed in a distant second place by "it has a removable mobo tray".

with me it comes down to one main thing-- the drive bay door. and i'd rather not have it come with a 350w psu, and pick out a different one instead.

looking at the big picture, though, i don't see how one could go wrong choosing any antec case.

You can get the SLK3700 without the door or PSU. It's called the Compucase 6A19 and you can get it from Directron.com or Coolcases.com among others.

i'm thinking of getting this or the Chenbro Junior I've been thinking about for a year!...before this case came out.....

I'm curious to see if the airflow has improved from the Sonata.

though I've always wanted the Junior. the front Firewire and USB ports are extremely useful for me...and I've never had an aluminum case.

Got my case yesterday. Intial imperssions (to be followed by a full review at SilentPCReview) are:

1) 2" taller and deeper than the SLK3700. All 2" of height is above the PSU leaving a 2" dead spot up there. It's needed in order to have that I/O panel at the front/top of the case.

2) Very nice thick aluminum construction throughout the case. Top quality job here, way better than Lian-Li, as good as or better than Coolermaster.External surfaces appear to be covered by a protective clearcoat.

3) Removable mobo tray actually comes out the side of the case, not the back like on most other removable-tray cases. A little bit of a PITA to get in and out.

4) Much better ventilation around the front fan opening/bezel area than the Sonata, should be much less constricted here than the Sonata but I can't speak about any additional noise yet. Room for only a 1" thick fan in front, no L1A Panaflos need apply here.

5) Nifty flip-open color-coordinated CDrom covers and a color-coordinated FDD cover.

6) Front bezel pretty busy and all plastic. A large portion of it is "chrome" plated which, if the Sonata's chrome is any example, will start tarnishing after a while. There's an easily removeable, washable air filter on it.

7) Extra bling for free!! there's 3 LEDs buried in the intake slots on the bezel. I don't know what color they are since I haven't put it together yet but they are definitely there.

I've taken a bunch of pics which will be published along with the review.

I got the case direct from Antec.
