Help!! A friend needs a new video card for his aging system. It has an AGP slot on a BX or LX motherboard. These boards suppied greater voltage to the slot than the current boards. Many cards were "keyed" so they wouldn't fit in the wrong boards but not all. Ideas??? It currently has something slower that a TNT!!!! The other option is to go with a PCI card. Thanks. R

My 440LX had a GeForce2 MX400 in it. It worked fine. Anything that supports AGP 2x should do it I think.

Thanks. My friend is trying to play The Sims. I have never played it but I would think it wouldn't require much 'horsepower" like Unreal. R

The Sims has no 3D acceleration at all. Why does he want a new video card? Maybe he doesn't need to upgrade.

Errr... yeah. The Sims should work with any 4MB video card. Maybe your friend should spend his money on a slotket/slocket and a 533MHz Celeron (or a 766 or better if the board is a good BX).

He has a real POS computer. It also has a 4X CDR that is always running as he is playing the game. He installed a CD burner and he maynot have DMA enabled or something. He decided that he need's a video card, but he really needs a new computer. Thansks. R

Is that the drive that he has the Sims CD in while playing? I have never played the Sims, but maybe that's because he has the game music turned on and its access the music from the CD. Other than that, I don't know why the CDR would be going all the time.

FYI, I just recently upgraded from an Abit BE6-II (BX board) and it ran my GF4 flawlessly...
