New Car Time

Well hadn't planned to buy anything since we bought a CX-5 at a screaming deal in late 2015. Well, we had expected then unexpected pregnancy. Two kids plus a car seat doesn't work well in a CX-5. We'd been paying extra so were $1k to the good on it. We ended up with a 2017 Pathfinder SL. Everything but the sunroof package as my wife will not have one do to being in a rollover wreck where her hair was ripped out of the sunroof, yes she was wearing a seatbelt. Stickered at a tad over $41k, paid $32k. Added Gap and out the door at $33kish. Pretty happy overall. Like the truck but still a bit apprehensive with a Nissan. Equipment wise couldn't touch anything else for the money.

I dislike sunroofs because they lower the ceiling in the car ... but ouch ouch ouch ouch ouch!

With a little luck one kid will be gone soon as he graduates high school next month. The CX-5 was a little tighter than I had anticipated. Bought mainly for the gas mileage and decent size. Over the longer term leg room was less than ideal and cargo space just wasn't enough for our monthly warehouse club shopping runs. I wouldn't have replaced it for these reasons, car seat put it over the top. Plus a stroller would have ate up most of the cargo room. Other than the rare neighborhood kid trip the third row will remain down.

OP Congrats on a Pathfinder. Definitely a step up or two (pun intended) over a CX-5. I am guessing with a full load including a trip to store, the CX-5 was probably feeling very crowded and slow. But a V6 Pathfinder is definitely a better choice.

Sorry to hear about your wife and the Sunroof. I hope she didn't suffer any permanent damage. I would tend to avoid Sunroofs now as well after hearing a few other negative things about them.

Color?

Yeah she's fine. Had some glass in her eye they had to wash out, scuffed up shoulder and some missing hair. It was certainly crowded when filled up. It's bright silver. We went to buy the gun metal color but someone was in process of buying it when we got there. I wasn't crazy about the color and they knew it, I think it helped the deal honestly. My wife loves the color and it's her car so it worked out.
