New Car for my Sister

Hey so my sister's looking for a new car to purchase since she now has a full time job in her career. She wants a good car that is great on gas. She doesnt want to spend more then 20 k CAD. So it would be small cars only. My parents are stressing her to get Hyundai since they both own one ( 2008 Santa Fe and 2013 Elantra GT). I own a 2004 Lancer that has had barely any problems besides O2 sensor

My suggestions to her was get a Fiesta or Focus since ford is cheaper on insurance and maintenance costs are cheaper then that of a foreign car. I believe she can get a fully loaded fiesta for around 20k. But im open to all suggestions from you guys

FWIW a Spark is better than a Fiesta 'in theory'
How about a KIA like a Soul or something? Might be easier to swallow for mom and dad
