yes, it's been done...
but i get a new car for college and i come to the smartest* ppl on earth...
give me some cars that i can get with some options, not necessarily full option...for under 30k...
any type of car is ok...suvs, wagons, speed wagons, sedans...
prefer to keep it 4 doors and up...
and it'd be great if i could keep insurance rates down...
should be auto...manual would suck where i live...

Hmm... Looks like you hae a lot of choices. In college, you'll be broke @ss. If you're anything like me. 🙂

I'd say something fuel efficient and roomy for all your buddies. Certain ones, anyway. Of course, you want the coolness factor too...

Mechanical bills will suck, but its a new car so you don't have to worry about that... I'll get abck to you.

Where are you going to college? What kind weather will you be driving in?

Under 30K? In college? Must be nice... 😛

That being said, what kind of car do you LIKE to drive. Are you going to be using it to move stuff? Are you going to be hauling your friends around? Is all out performance important to you? Or would you rather have a luxurious interior?

hopefully UCLA...but if not maybe Irvine or San Diego...
pretty much southern cali weather...southern cali traffic....
and i'm not going to look for races, but if i see a ricer integra or something, it'd be nice to burn it...

In no particular order:

Nissan Maxima
Nissan Altima
Subaru WRX
Audi A4 1.8T
BMW 325
Acura TL
Infinity I35
Lexus IS300
Grand Prix GTP

what can I say, I like sedans 🙂

i'd like a wrx, but kinda small...
and it be humiliating to drive that in auto...😱
anyways...
its pretty much gonna be used for casual driving...
don't need THAT much room...all the boys have their own rides...
and probably won't do THAT much hauling around...
but all types of cars are welcome...

You could get a sweet LOADED Maxima SE with 255hp, leather, moonroof, HID headlights, and navigation system for well $28,340 from CarsDirect.

Ehh... Screw your friends, right? THey're in the back seat. You and your girl are in the front. 😉

I like the acura CL or TL. The Infiniti G20 or G35 is good too. I personally like the The Audi A4 1.8TT quattro.

Of course, we can't ignore all the Nissan Fanboys out there. The Nissan Altima and Maximas are fine cars too.

But really. If you can get the Nissan 350z... Oh man...

Thats what I want to know!
I say knock a 0 of that $30k and get a nice $3k car and save the rest for beer and hookers oh and text books 🙂

I would go for a stripped down Grand Cherokee or a stripped down Ford Explorer.

What can I say, I like SUVs

30k...!??!?! spoiled @ss! serious, get a cheaper car and blow the money on booz and chicks! that's the college experience, besides there is ALWAYS someone whose got a richer daddy and mommy than you.. (highly evident at UCLA...)

oh don't worry, I'm just bitter

Well over here at USC, we drive bimmers and benzes. 😀

for a rational choice, the new corolla looks pretty damn good😛 finally is kewler looking then the civic and sips gas/under 20k. maybe your parents will let u keep the extra 10k to do as you wish.

<< lets say my money + selling 95 accord ex i own now + parents money = 30k-ish car >>

Good gawd. I guess I avoid debt too much?
Anyway, countless financial advisors would say that one of the biggest mistakes any college student can make is buying a brand new expensive car.

If I was you, I'd drive the Accord until it implodes or you get a PhD, whichever comes first, but it's your money 🙂 Save your pennies a bit more and you could get an S2000 🙂
