My wife and I are shopping for a new ride in the crossover SUV class. I have another thread here about jeep. My wife is on board for a Nissan Murano SV AWD. I'm game for it.

Working with the sales guy we came to a number on the S FWD trim but for a number of reasons ended up preferring SV AWD. But the final number all in that he has provided (inc all fees) seems about 1500 too high from where we were on the lower models.

In a nutshell, I've never dealt with Nissan before. Do they have really big fees or is something funny going on? My Cruze only had an admin fee after I didn't pay for the others but even then at its worst it was only like 800. 1500 seems like too high. Haven't signed anything yet on the Murano.

Highly unlikely but it looks like you are in Canada.

On the sales contract, everything should be spelled out. If there is a fee or tax that doesn't make sense, then question the dealer. Not sure how it works in Canada, but here it's price of vehicle, registration fees and taxes. Anything beyond that is the dealer try to make extra money.

yeah we are still negotiating, so there is no sales contract yet. He has given me an "all in" price which is supposed to include, well, everything. Just wondering what the everything is. I'll have them remove their "Service" fees once there is a contract on the table.

In Alberta on a recent purchase of an Acura, the only "fees" were $100 air conditioning tax, $20 tire recycling tax, $6.25 AMVIC plus a new plate that I requested.

It's all BS imho as KentState says. I wouldn't pay any extra fees unless they can prove they are mandatory.

I've just asked for the detailed breakdown. If they can't explain the deal, no dice.

What are the actual numbers? Do you know the difference in invoice prices? Either way I'd always walk from a deal I feel is fishy. Have you tried various car buyer services? Costco, USAA, ETC usually all have them and provide a prenegotiated price for you. Worth looking them up before you sign anything.

Thanks for the tip. didn't know Costco did that sort of thing. I'm in Canada so that could be why. Very interesting though.

The dealer just called me and flat out admitted he made a mistake in his math, and that mine was correct. The new price is what I was expecting, and hoping for, and I've verbally agreed. 2015 Nissan Murano SV AWD!

I don't blame him. I'd do it too. In this case I don't think that's what happened but I'm sure it does in other places. He knew I'd walk if he didn't fix it though.
