2010 Tsukuba Red Genesis Coupe 6MT
R-Spec
--Brembo Brakes
--Track Suspension
--LSD
--19" sport wheels

$23860 OTD

Per my headlight thread, my passat's been a bit weird lately. I test drove a Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2.0T yesterday and really liked it. They even have the exact one I want (2.0T R-spec 6MT- I didn't test drive it because my feet are still retarded)

I'll have to wait and see what's up with my passat... but damn that car is tempting :hmm::hmm:

Sell your Passat and get a V6. Then sell some other stuff.

lol what don't you understand about "out of my price range"?

besides, if i want to go fast, i have a motorcycle. no need for the V6.

Don't buy it until you can test drive the exact drive train you want. There may be something that annoys you that you won't like. Also, in this range you'd really be doing yourself a disservice if you don't try the V6 Mustang and Camaro before you make a decision. It never hurts to look at all your options before you put down the money.

Oh yea I would take the new V6 Mustang long before a Hyundai.

I haven't personally driven the new mustang but it's gotten some great reviews. I have taken the camaro for a spin and while people here gripe about it's curb weight it's a fun car to drive. If you're like 99% of buyers for these kind of cars you're buying it because you have fun driving it, not because you're going to be lapping the Nurburing. What you like won't necessarily be the same as everyone else so its worth taking a drive in everything that's close to what you're looking for. It doesn't cost you anything except a few hours of your time and even if you end up buying the first car you drove you'll be sure that its the car that you like the most.

sat in the (base) camaro and didnt like the gauge cluster, i also felt SUPER cramped. couldn't test drive it (was in a rather rough area, dealership didn't want people beating on it; can't say i blame them).

as great as the mustang is, i don't particularly care for its styling. it's been more or less the same for the past 5 years, and there are a bazillion mustangs. the genesis coupe is relatively rare by comparison :)

That's true, but you need the V6, here: http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests...10_camaro_rs_vs_2010_challenger_se/index.html

You're just going to be a sad panda 'cuz you didn't spend a bit extra for the faster version.

Don't care, pony cars with V6's are lame.
And the Genesis is far better looking.....

People seem to forget that the V6 pony cars today can outrun the V8 pony cars of just a few years ago.

The Camaro felt cramped to me until I got it on the road. After I started driving it didn't really bug me anymore. The way the rear window is you'd think you'd have a hard time seeing what's behind you but after I got the mirrors adjusted the way I wanted the visibility was fine. It may be harder for people that are different heights.

I will say though that the salesman in the back seat had to sit sideways because he didn't fit. That back seat is TINY.

It's just not the same.. I understand numbers, but sometimes you gotta put numbers aside..

A Mustang, Challenger, Camaro should have a big fire breathing V8 and nothing else.

Personally, that defeats the point of those cars for me.

They end up costing heavily north of $30K and you can get start looking into real V8 Sports cars if that's your thing.

Used cars maybe..

If you can't enjoy a car because of how it actually drives rather than some preconceived notion of what it should be you'll be doomed to pay more and enjoy what you have less. I agree that the previous generations had relatively sad V8 offerings but the base drive trains in these cars are getting downright impressive.

as i said before, i have a motorcycle for speed ('09 FZ6R - not the fastest, but no stock genesis is going to catch it any time soon). also, in that review, the genesis is priced to $31k. well above what i want to spend.

I read that the 4 Cylinder Turbo is a better buy because they are a lot more moddable.

also this - if i ever *do* want speed, the turbo version is better for modding.

V6-Mustang - They are offering larger discounts than the Genesis on these as is plus if you ever decide to modify it the aftermarket is HUGE!

The 2.0T Genesis will be getting major motor upgrade in 2012 to coincide with the 270HP the 2.0T Sonata will be pushing at that point.

Don't be the guy that buys the weak motor and is then envious. You say you don't care - but you will and your resale will suck too because of this. check out the 2008WRX's for living proof.

resale value? i plan on driving the car into the ground. how many times do i have to say i have a motorcycle if i want to go fast?

that's like saying you should do an LS1 swap in a miata. you don't need a giant engine to enjoy the car.

Why even bother with an impractical car if you don't care about going fast? Just get a nice 4 door and have something that will be a good commuter.

Why does everyone need to hate? If he likes the car more power to him.
