Not to ruin your enthusiasm but my friend was just in Japan and saw the 3 megapixel version of the S100.

I've had an S100 for the last 3 months and love it. It perfectly fits my needs. I've got a 6 month old son and taking tons of pictures without having to worry about developing is wonderful. Just remember to back up your files I almost lost all my pics when my PC crashed.

Just got the camera today--bought it from the info in this thread. Someone had mentioned that shots with the macro mode were off center and not focused. I tried this out and found out that to get proper focus, the camera must be about 4 inches away from the object. Also, in macro mode, you have to use the LCD screen to center the object and not the viewfinder.

The camera instructions say this is due to the &quot;parallax&quot; phenomenon, but they don't explain what that is...does anyone here know??

Most stores still have this unit at 499$.. I guess buy.com dropping it to 398$ for a while was testing the waters.. I thought it was a great deal, esp with the 30$ off coupon (which ends tonite)
Too bad the price went up.. but at 419$ its still nice.

bjasin - I think paralax refers to the difference in views when viewing from two different viewpoints. (did I say &quot;view&quot; enough times, dude?) Try this, put a finger a few inches away from your eyes. Close one eye , then the other and you'll know what paralax means. :Q

That's what happens if you look through a viewfinder that doesn't go through the same lens which takes the picture. Hope that helps.



Did anyone find a good deal on the S100 Battery? Maybe it ain't so important since the battery is so long lasting?

they dont have the MSN deal there, they just have MSN passport, doesnt mean they are with the deal. Also , the macro focus range is 4 to 26&quot; so it will not focus right inside of 4&quot; because its not in the focus range. THe battery is $50 at amazon, but i dont feel the need to get that yet since i dont use the LCD that much. Also i doubt there is a 3 megapixel version in japan, as it would be all over the camera review sites, the s100 came out only 2 weeks earlier in japan as it did in america (ixy digital) , so there really isnt a long lag time between japan and here. I'd estimate that a 3 megapixel will be out around end of next summer, based on the roadmaps i've seen for a 3 megapixel CCD with the right size for this camera body (the really small .37&quot; size) and that can be focused on by this camera's lens optics

i dont have it in my hands, It at my parents house. Though I have read countless times that it does get pretty warm. Yours should be alright. Try going to www.dpreview.com and go to the forums you should find lots of info there.
