Canon EF 70-200 f/2.8L IS II USM

more interesting
The most interesting part about that lens could be the price.

The EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM is available from the end of February 2010 priced at £2,799.99 / €3,199.99 RRP inc. VAT

For comparison, the Nikon 70-200mm VR II has an MSRP of £1999 / €2430 / $2399.95.

Anyone ready to pay $3k for a 70-200/2.8L IS II?

i see your unsubstantiated rumor:
Canon confirmed prices for Germany: 2399 Euro, available in March – I’ve placed my order 45 minutes after the announcement, now, I know the price :-o

and raise you sony's 6th SLR under $1000. (i see the shelf cramming strategy employed so well in the compact sector is making its way to the SLR)

meh, the A3xxx seems overpriced, no? Why not get an SD1200IS for nearly the same price?

Even so, it almost feels silly for me to buy anything but the A490... it's all I need for a take anywhere cam, heh.. and pretty damn cheap.

edit: err... just noticed the A4xxx don't have IS... duh. so used to everything having that...

heck, even if they got the information from an inventory system those have been wrong pre-sales anyway. 7D price was much higher in the inventory system than it actually turned out to be, iirc.

there's SRP/RRp & eventual street pricing ...

there's another interesting rumour that at the same time as introducing this new, dearer 70-200/2.8 IS they are also killing the non-IS 70-200/2.8.

Did they reduce the amount of optical elements in the new 70-200 II? Mine has 23. Geesh.
