I don't know why I love working with tape so much but the feeling of raw DV is like a warm blanket on a cold day to me 🙂

Also, what is with the huge # of megapixels on the HF S10?

Kaido is correct. I loved my digital8 camcorder... but transfering video was a pain. Now I can either just pull out an SD card or plug the camera into the PC and copy some files.

Tape sucks. So does film.

Yeah, the only downside is that tape quality is still better than digital quality. It's not quite as close as photo film vs digital cameras yet. But it's getting there - Red's equipment is a step in the right direction. Canon & Nikon's dSLR cameras with HD video features are looking real nice, too. Quality (and a few extra manual controls) is really the only reason I still use tape for my camcorder. Even the HF11 can't beat the HV20 in terms of picture quality. It's a PAIN to deal with, but the PQ is worth it to me.

PJ friend of mine plugs her camera into her computer, it makes whirring sounds for a bit, and the file is copied.
