Never go anywhere. For the same reason it would go no where in a state like Texas... I've always been a if you don't like the way your State is running you've got at least 49 other options kind of guy...

I think there's at least 3 or 4 separatist movements going on in California right now, from the State of Jefferson division in the northeast corner to the 6 new states to this one and others. The problem is that the northern and eastern rural members of the State despise the left wing socialists and Democrats that control the population centers. Nothing will come of it, it isn't going to happen. The left will continue to pass extreme laws and regulations and the rest of the state will just have to deal with them as they happen............ or vote with their feet and get out.

Tyranny by the majority is alive and well and living in California.

They can join eastern Oregon and Washington to become Hillbillystan, while western Oregon, Washington, and the decent parts of California join British Columbia. Would be great to be able to cruise up to Vancouver for a Canucks game without having to dink around at the border.

The state has a large population, the conservative minority in CA is probably a sizable amount of people in any other state. The best thing they can do is move to other states and help those states vote red. CA has a locked in Dem government for the foreseeable future. I don't think too many states do well that have only one party in power for a long time.

The amusing thing about this proposal is that the people making it are presumably conservative and want a conservative state to live in. Unfortunately for them, the county outline that they drew would still make 'New California' a heavily blue state, meaning all they have done is increased liberal representation in the Senate, electoral college, and possibly the House, depending on how rounding shakes out.

lol. Thanks, dummies!

Senate seats are exactly why no division of California is ever going to happen.

As opposed to tyranny of the minority which is the way Taj likes it.

I'm not sure how it happens but just about every thread about every topic eventually devolve into a conservative victimization thread. With ultimate power at the Federal level they are still not content that there are some states that the GOP does not have complete control of yet. They hate for people to have options it seems...

The Conservatives in California are just as free to relocate as the Liberals in Texas...

Hey dumbasses, move somewhere that's more amenable if you don't like where you are. Hell I'm trying to get out of FL for (partially)the same reason, hell I'm working on leaving the country, but you don't see me trying to set up a new state. Hopefully the national guard will show them how it works, though with Trump in charge it's more likely they'll be helping them.

It’s odd how you never see them starting threads about how bad the tyranny of the majority is in say, Kansas. It’s almost as if they don’t actually care about that.

For crissakes. "Tyranny of the majority" is alive and well in every state. It's called democracy.

By the logic of this movement, liberal areas in red states should all get to split off and form their own states as well.

This movement goes back decades, by the way. It is far from new, and not really even news.

I went to Fox this morning, this is their big story, their major headline. Had the story been about people in Kansas wanting Kansas to split, I would have posted that instead. But, the reality of it is, this story is about CA on on Fox's front page now. You regularly get upset about reality not aligning with your view of things. Maybe you should think on that for a bit.

You started a thread because it's on the front page of Fox News, yet it doesn't occur to you why this is a front page story on Fox? It's not like this is the first we've heard about conservatives wanting to carve out their own state from CA. And it's not like it has any better chance than any these ridiculous state secessionist movements, be they from CA or Texas. None of these are worthy of front page news.

Another word for "tyranny by the majority" is democracy. Democracy is mob rule with delusions of grandeur and a good press agent. Democracy is 51% of the population banding together to rob the other 49%. Democracy is 2 wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for dinner. Democracy is "there's more of us, so what you want doesn't matter, fuck off". Democracy sucks, but we've managed to convince ourselves that it's noble and quite frankly there are no better ways of doing things. Whether government is tyranny by the majority or tyranny by the few, it's going to come across as tyranny if you're not happy with the outcome.

So your response to how conservatives never talk about tyranny of the majority in red states and only talk about it in blue states is to say that conservative media is talking about it in a blue state.

Lol. Thank you for proving my point. This is so dumb it hurts.

I mean it’s a pretty standard thing at this point. If conservstives keep losing elections the answer is not to become less conservative it is to redraw the lines of who gets to vote until you win.

Again though, the dumbness of these people is pretty epic. First, those rural areas are dependent on absolutely massive amounts of money transferred from the highly productive Bay/LA areas to them. They would be cutting their own economic throat.

Second, they appear to have based their plan on an understanding of California that’s about 15 years out of date. OC And San Diego used to be conservative areas, but not anymore, meaning they would be seceding from a heavily blue state to join a regular blue state. Something tells me this was not the idea, haha.

I know Fox has an agenda, I have no disagreement there. That being said, I've seen this same story pop up before, I'm sure I've seen similar things posted on this site in the past, so I posted this one. Some people seem really, really butthurt over that.
