If I had my way, everyone would get Newton Week off as a paid vacation and could spend the time doing physics, or other activities of their choice," he says

Yeah, that's what I plan to do. Physics.

BAH! I'd just be happy if they would change the standard American work week to four, ten hour days. Let's face it, most Americans probably put in 10 hours a day on average anyway at work, so why not give more time off? I hate five, eight hour days per week. Weekends are never long enough to get anything done.

And while we're at it, let's redivide the 24-hour day into 30 hours so we have more hours left after working 8.

Same here. Worked Monday through Thursday with Friday, Saturday and Sunday off. It was sweet! I just don't understand why more employers don't do it. It could cut down on overtime because there's more time in the day to get things done. Employees would be better rested and ready to go at the start of the week too. There are many benefits to it.

I'm sure someone will say the calendar system is broken too.

But QWERTY *is* broken. With the original mechanical typerwritters people were typing too fast making the... thingie thing... whatever the thing that imprints the letters on the paper... yeah those, they were hitting each other. QWERTY was born to slow people down (I think the original layout was ABCDEF) so the typewritters would work.

The current calendar system, though it has flaws, itsn't designed to be hard.

OK, but only if your birthday is on the least convient day of the week, I'd say Monday, but then you'd say that's perfect. So whatever day sucks the most for you, then you get to celebrate your B-day on that suck-a$$ day for the rest of your life... Also, think about all the people wanting to get married on weekends. EVERY wedding aniversary would be on friday/saturday after a while.
