new Cake album

I really liked "Fashion Nugget". Haven't really heard them since then. They got a little to "Country" for me. I'll have to give this new album a listen though.

ive always loved them. all their albums seem pretty well-done. i think "prolonging the magic" went toward the country thing but i enjoy any music that warrents "OH YEAH! THATS RIGHT!" and horn solos.

hahaha! Cake is awesome! I didn't know they were back!

reluctantly crouched at the starting line...

I really like the horn solos.

I want a girl with a mind like a diamond
I want a girl who knows what's best
I want a girl with shoes that cut
And eyes that burn like cigarettes

I want a girl with the right allocations
Who's fast and thorough
And sharp as a tack
She's playing with her jewelry
She's putting up her hair
She's touring the facility
And picking up slack

I want a girl with a short skirt and a lonnnng jacket......

OMG!! Cake is sooo good. I saw them over the summer at a free concert. A lot of people seem to have not heard of them.

Sounds a little to electronic for me, just listening to a few second of each song, nothing really reaches out and grabs me. Too bad, I was looking forward to this one

Isn't it just awful? That new song "no phone" is so pitiful that it does nothing but cement my previous suspicions that people are only fans of Cake because it became, at some point and God knows how, trendy to be one. 🙂

the new album is so-so right now. but then again i didnt like cake on my first listen either. but now i love all of their previous albums.
what rocks even more is that i'm seeing them in concert on Friday!!
[edit for grammar] btw they performed on leno last night and are set to perform on the late late show (Cbs) tonight

The new album isn't bad, but it's not as good as previous albums. I wasn't a big fan of Comfort Eagle except for a couple outstanding tracks (Arco Arena is one of their best songs). Overall, a bit weak, but there are a few great songs. I personally like "No Phone" and I think it rocks.

CAKE is a great band with some great material. They are smart-ass rock with no real message or point. The band is solid and the songwriting for the most part is very clever.

Motorcade of Generosity is just a fantastic album with classics like 'Rock N Roll Lifestyle,' 'Jesus Wrote a Blank Check,' and my favorite Cake song, 'Mr. Mastadon Farm.' You can't deny they are a great band live and they make some great songs.

I've got tickets to see them in a few weeks up in Chicago. Can't wait. Saw my only other show right after Comfort Eagle came out. They played Mr. Mastadon Farm and Jesus that night.

I completely missed out and hadn't heard they had a new album out until yesterday.
I'm really enjoying it so far, and think it's on par with the rest of their albums. I like all of them equally, they're all pretty great. It all seems to work out to be good driving music.

The new album is definately up to par with the rest of their albums...

It takes a while to catch on to it (like every album they've released) and it has like 2 crappy tracks (like every album they're released). I think the 'carbon monoxide' track needs to go, as well as 'dime' (just based on lyrics you don't want to hear). IMHO the best track on the new album is track 10, but I don't quite know why. Has a kinda 'uplifting' feel to it I guess.

Seriously, every album they've released has always been bleeehhh for me at first, but then grows on me tremendously. The production is top notch, as always, which makes you just want to blare it on a system even more. This album has quite a bit more synths, but that's not a bad thing. Every one of their albums seems to have a 'sound' to it, and this one went to synths.

The album definately follows suit with what they've been doing all along, though. I'd say pick it up and put it into rotation with the rest of their albums. It won't stand out at all.
