The beginning of this week I went to my nearest Comcast office and picked up a new cable modem, my old one had died. They gave me an Arris TG862. I have it hard lined into my PC. When I first installed it I wasnt getting an internet signal so I called Comcast support and someone got the internet up and running remotely. The modem seems to run fine until I want to stream some video. I have HBO GO and use that to stream video. Typically when I try to stream video on HBO GO it plays for a few minutes then I lose internet signal to my PC for a second or two, just long enough to freeze what ever Im watching. Almost as if Comcast is trying to prevent me from using bandwidth even though Im just trying to use one of the services they sold me.

Both the TG852 and TG862 have been bug-ridden pieces of junk from the first day that Comcast released them on the unsuspecting public. Take it straight back to your local Comcast office and demand that they immediately replace it with a different DOCSIS 3.0 modem/router. Don't buy into their BS about they're coming out with a firmware upgrade that'll solve the problem; they've been using that song and dance since day one, and as of yesterday there still isn't a fix.

Not surprising. Comcast gets worse every year. Good thing for them they have a monopoly. I tried to take it back where I got it from and the girl told me they had no modems in the office and told me to go to their main office which I didnt have time to do, I dont even know where their main office is and you cant call the local offices, you always get redirected to their national robot answering service.

Maybe I should buy my own modem?

Comcast now has a monthly GB limit for downloading. Streaming video can use it up quickly. Example, my subscription now allows me 300GB per month.
