I've had good luck with Dell in the past, I don't oc, I just want a good stable sys for BF2/other games and the wifes school work. (No headaches) My old 2.4a P4 has served me well but BF2 has made me start looking for an upgrade. Looking at Dell's website I see that the C2D E6600 sys is using a 1066 FSB but the mem they are using is 667. Is this an issue if I don't overclock? Would this sys benefit from faster mem? What's the relation of FSB to mem speed? TIA.

XPS 410
C@D E6600
2gb DDR@ 667mhz
256mb 7300LE TurboCache (till I can do better)
Vista (by force)

The FSB of that C2D is 266 Mhz. Having RAM that's 50% faster allows for running the RAM at 150% of the speed of the cpu's FSB, and gives a slight performance boost.

It is just cheaper for dell to get 667 i guess.

No issues, no difference since it is still running @ 533. Obviously you cannot oc to get better value unless you replace mobo, case and cpu fan ? do it after your warranty expires. Easy to reinstall then Vista and use it with no activation forever (100% legally, full functionality).

I received 9200 (410) for work with 667 Hynix back in 2006. Replaced memory with 533 i had then and will use Hynix to build a value 3Hz-overclocked system for a customer - http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview...atid=28&threadid=2021580&enterthread=y

If you have this memory or ProMos - it is actually quite good.
