New C&C in the works

I wonder how many people they will fool into buying this since it will say Victory Games on it instead of EA.

it died with RA:3

It died with RA2. C&C3 was poor and RA3 took the slightly slapstick RA-alternate universe thing too far.

I haven't even checked C&C4 but for all intents and purposes, it seems to be a complete abomination.

Stopped caring about C&C post-Westwood. Since then, the EA black hole has obliterated many of my favourite studios... Bullfrog, Lionhead, Origin, Maxis (where is my Sim City 5 you BASTARDS?!?), etc etc 🙁

RIP

Are they seriously going to call it just "Command & Conquer"? I hope not.

Sounds like "Rambo" or "Star Trek." Boy they sure love rebooting shit these days.

In EA's defense, all those studios were about dead before EA purchased them and kept their development teams intact (for a while longer). Maxis's Sim City wasn't bringing home the bacon anymore, and neither was Westwood before they got converted to EA West.

And say what you will about C&C, but I LIKE C&C:Generals and C&C3. They were certainly better than Tiberium Sun, which was an abomination under westwood.

While I never played Generals, I completely agree with you on C&C 3 versus Tiberian Sun. I loved C&C more than any game at the time, and I couldn't force myself to play through that whole campaign. It was pure crap.

Agreed, and I might as well add another favorite of mine.. Bioware.

Fuckers.

Under management by EA 😛 Same with tib sun, i think RA1 was the last westwood game where they had no outside influences in the development.

Yep, RA2 was NOT a westwood game. It was made by EA with the westwood name simply thrown on. You can tell the retarded direction the entire franchise took after Tiberian Sun.

CNC95 and RA1 are both quite dark, gritty, and strived to portray what an alternate history war would be like.

The first mission in RA1 has you gassing civilians with sarin gas. Now when MW2 has you killing civilians in an airport everyone gets their panties in a twist.

This is why I don't get the hate on CNC3. It WAS much better than Tiberian Sun. Yeah, it wasn't perfect, but they aimed to make a sequel to CNC95, not Tibsun. The world doesn't look like a cartoon as it did in Tibsun. They eliminated the ridiculous units and brought back the universe to that "near future alternate history" that CNC95 did so well.

I have to say, the Brotherhood of Nod as shown in CNC95 is the only time a game has ever depicted how a terrorist organization operates accurately.

Well IMO tiberian sun was pretty good, the gameplay left quite a lot to be desired, the stability was rubbish and the online component was pretty meh mainly because the gameplay wasent so great but the actual storyline was solid, or rather it would have led to better things, CABAL coming back as his own faction in an attempt to wipe out the scrin, nod, gdi and the mutants etc. That wouldve been a lot cooler than what they went for in C&C3.

Tiberian sun on its own wasent fantastic but it laid down the foundations for something cooler, excellent storyline and the actual dangerous world they created with tiberium growing all over the place, explosive blue stuff, veinhole monsters, those tiberian fiends that actually were a real PITA in limited unit missions, viceroids that come from your own troops dying in tberium, that was all really great stuff that was not there at all in C&C3.

C&C3 was great, C&C4 was terribad.

Ditto, exactly how I feel.

Lots of Lan nights, money matches and all around fun with C&C 3. The competitive scene was there - and that's what makes an RTS fun IMO.

In any case, not sure what to think about another C&C. C&C 4 was suppose to be the "end all be all" for the franchise, so what's left anyway?

And for some reason I don't know why I want to throw this out here, but C&C 4 to me was like HOMM IV was to the series - a trainwreck compared to the previous.
