New Burner or adapter?

My 5 year old IDE DVD burner (ND-3550A) is fine, but my new MB is only SATA. So my options are:

1. Buy a new SATA burner
2. Buy an IDE to SATA adapter, could be used for old HD's if ever needed for data recovery
3. Buy an IDE controller card, like XWT-PCIE15 includes eSATA and another SATA also if ever needed, plus could be used for old HD's for data recovery.
4. Buy an external burner, can be move it around. Owned a netbook for 3-4 years and have never needed to read a disk though.

I like 1 for simplicity and just to get a new burner, how much longer will my burner last? 3 isn't bad just because I get an eSATA port, not that I need one right now or anything. I also already have USB 3.0 for external drives if needed. As all the options are around $20, what would you do?

Just get a new SATA burner, they are so cheap I wouldn't bother buying an adapter or a controller.

5 years is good going for a burner, If it was mne i would buy a new sata one and be done with it. It isn't going to last forever and do you really want it to die halfway through something important at some point in the future.

I agree with zion and Puppies. Just spend $20 and get a new burner. The other solutions add unnecessary complexity and are not going to be significantly less expensive (they may even cost more).
