New build

I just got all the parts for my new build and was looking at the case I had from my old system and it looks like it will be a tight fit. Was wondering if you think it's big enough for proper cooling? Any suggestions on how to mod it for better cooling or should I just look at something bigger? Or will it be fine altogether? Thanks in advance for any suggestions!!

from the pictures, it looks like it has fans by the HDD bay if im correct. with 2 raptors and a 640gb dual platter i would make sure you get proper cooling passed those drives as they will tend to generate a good bit of heat when placed close together. the main thing i dont like about it is it only takes 80mm fans. for a case that costs $100 i would expect it to take at least 2 120mm fans, or your system is going to sound like a jet and wont have enough airflow for the dual 4870s to stay cool. what i would do is choose a different case. the coolermaster centurion 590 has support for up to 8 120mm fans, tool free drive bays, far better air circulation options, the PSU vents out the bottom instead of into the case, and its all in all cheaper, not including the purchase of fans

Even though I have the Centurion 590, I wouldn't recommend it because it feels flimsy, my side panel doesn't line up correctly and I can't screw on my left side panel, the screwless drive mounting mechanisms are worthless and the case is both noisy and dusty. Definitely go for something else (maybe even a PC-7B?).

I hold the firm believe that the 690 is superior to the 590.

The linked case has plenty of width so a reasonably tall HSF for the CPU should fit, but I'd be worrying about the length and clearances for long video card(s). A case at least 19 or 20" deep (not including the bezel) will better serve. I'd also be leery of the 80mm fans. you could mod the rear for a 120 using an adapter, but IDK what you'd do for the front... Here's what I did for the Wave Master I have up for sale in FS/T: http://i52.photobucket.com/alb...r0/fanOnWaveMaster.jpg -I also rigged a 100mm Scythe Kaze Jyu in the front. You may need to open up the rear fan hole to better line up with the fan adapter (80 to 120) on the WM it is only about 1/8" all around but I won't cut the case metal unless authorized by the new owner.

I'd take the 590 over the 690 for reasons I've posted before, but both are flimsy in spots and the side panels are sticky.

While in its day the PC-65 was a great case, I have a hard time recommending it anymore. It is just a little too "long in the tooth" so to speak. 80mm fans were fine 8 years ago when this case was designed. However, since you already own it, you can give it a try. You might have to put faster 80mm fans in there which means louder, all that matters is the CFM a few Vantec 80mm Tornadoes will keep you cool, however ear plugs may be required...

Thanks for the replies. Would I just be able to pop out some of the extra drive bays and toss in a fan? Or maybe pop a hole in the top of the case and add a fan (mine is an older one with no top vent)?
