New build

Just did a new build for a friend.

Asus P5QL-E
Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 2.53
G.Skill 2GB 1066 DDR2
VisionTek Radeon 4870
OCZ Stealth 600w

Build went very well, no major problems. I am stressing the system at the moment. The CPU temp is up to 57c. I read that 71c is max for cpu. Under heavy load is 55-60c ok?
I am little worried about the temps as the case is not great for cooling and using stock Intel cooler.

Might need to replace it, would like not too if possible.

Thanks for any thoughts.

PS. I did the ATI change in the profile to increase fan speed on the card to 60.

If you have the stock intel heatsink, poor ventilation in the case, and/or an overclock, that would be the result. What are the idle temps? 57C is fine in my eyes- not necessary, but not detrimental. Adding another fan to get the heat out (esp from that 4870) should yield an improvement.

i would get a good heatsink/fan (a quiet one like zalman) and some artic silver thermal compound. my system runs at 28C on idle. its a really quiet system. i can't even tell its on sometimes (i disconnected the leds too)

amd 4000+
120 mm exhaust
zalman heatsink/fan

i keep both fans on low

After looking at alot of comments, i went with the Tuniq 120 after market CPU cooler. Its huge and you'll need the case width, but it makes nearly no sound and has an external adjustable fan controller. under load my phenom has a max temp of 32c and at idle its 27c.
We use it as a subcom server, rainbow 6 vegas, company of heros for endless hours.
