I'd say it seems decent but we have no idea what you're going to be using it for. Please provide more information! If it's for general browsing and office work, you've spent way too much. If it's for transcoding and rendering, good call but get 4GB of DDR2-800 (there's G.Skill for $90 on newegg). If it's for gaming, get the E8400 instead and get 4GB of RAM like I said.

No need to buy the arctic silver 5, because the ac 7 pro comes with mx-2 preapplied, which is in fact better thermal grease then as5 ...

PSU should be fine, consider this though: http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/...p?ProductCode=10006237 or this: http://www.buy.com/prod/corsai...loc/101/203270716.html

The first is way more power then you need, but it's a great deal, the second is modular, which is really nice to have as well.

And yeah, get 2x2gb of ram. 2x2gb of corsair ram can be had for 74$ AR.

in that case, I can't really recommend the 8600gt even for "light" gaming. that is pretty high resolution to be running a cheap video card

I agree with Marc. The 9600GT would be better than the 8800GS, of course, but especially with a 24" monitor. The Antec Designer 500 is overpriced, IMO, but hey, cases are personal preference.

Looks good - let us know how that 780g performs.

Simply increasing the cpu multi to 14x will get you 2.8GHz without an 'OC' and bring your memory speed up to 800MHz :)

The EA430 has 30A on the +12V rail, so it will most likely handle many high end cards, including the 8800GTS 512MB or HD3870X2.

The 8800GTX is rated as requiring 28A on the 12V rail so the Earthwatts is pretty much good for everything.

I like the case!! Good price on it too. Do you have the money to upgrade to the 9600GT?? If you have a 24" monitor, that may be appropriate, and its on ly a little more.

Overall, I think it's not bad, and an excellent price for all the components.

What OS are you going to use?
