Looking for suggestions on the setup below.

AMD64 2800+
Chaintech VNF3-250
OCZ Performance series pc3500 512x2
Sapphire 9800pro, 6800 vanilla,or ATI midrange card
Going to be using HD's from the system in my sig.

Im looking to buy this in 2-3 months when prices have gone down a little and next gen cards are available at retail price or below. My budget is under $1000. I still need a case+PSU under $100 and im also wondering how well the 2800+ overclocks. Also am I going to notice that much of a difference in games and other apps? Current system in sig.

I'd get 3000+ at the current prices as it will overclock much better

Also it's better to run A64 in sync so if you get the A64 to 240+ FSB PC3500 ram will not be enough for you and I'd look into PC4000 ram or maybe OCZ PC3500/3700 EB series that overclock better too.

If you can afford it, i'd go for 6800GT, otherwise 9800Pro 128mb 256-bit for $200 and upgrade it within 1 year or so

PS, get Fortron 400 watts or Sparkle. If you have more $$$, Antec TruePower 430.

Once you buy a good power supply, then $100 - PS cost = your case. I do not recommend buying a case + PS included as most of them are not very good.

Here is an overclocking article on A64 3000+ => Enjoy

Of course in 2-3 months prices on the 3200+ > might come down slightly so adjust your choices accordingly. The motherboard is a good choice BTW.

You will notice significant performance difference in gaming since your cpu will be close to 2x as fast and your videocard as well, especially once you enable 4AA/8AF where possible for nice eye candy.
