Help!
I just got done a week ago with my new build:

Abit IP35Pro
E6750
4GB Ballistix
XFX 8800GT

Loaded Windows Vista64 Ultimate (in 18 min!!!) and it fired up flawlessly...I couldn't believe the ease and with NO hardware issues. Ran it for about 20 hours over the next week including running COD4 and loading some Anti-Virus, Utilities, and Firefox.....runs perfect.
I then decide to go ahead and download the Windows Updates (around 78MBs!) just to be safe before I register the OS.
Well my computer has shut down. It gives me the Error Recovery Console Screen, but doesn't recognize my keyboard or mouse so I can't get into safe mode. I can get into the bios so I set the CD to boot first and tried putting the Vista CD in, but it doesn't even seem like it is reading the cd. It the acts as if it is booting but goes into a black screen and then the Error Recovery Console Screen. It then just loops over and over.

Now I'm stuck! Any help is appreciated. I knew everything was going too smoothly! I am willing to erase it all and start over, but now I am worried to install updates.

peace

SleeveOfWizard,

Welcome to the forum!! I'm sure you can get some help here.

If it only took you 18 minutes the first time around, I'd do it over and this next time get the updates from the Microsoft site one or two at a time. That way if you have any trouble you'll know which update it came from... and then you could probably use System Restore to get things back in order.

Tme for you to start making backup images with a good backup program (like Acronis True Image) and be ready for the next time you get closed out - just put your last good image back on the machine and you're back in business.

Or, just put XP back on the machine 🙂

Good luck to you, Noel

And since the way to resolve it wasn't mentioned, you just need to boot from the DVD and go to the recovery console. There you can go back a couple of System Restore points.

Thanks guys!
Unfortunately after I set my boot priority to CD/dvd as #1 and then load the Vista OS disc...the system is not recognizing or reading the disc to boot or reload. I apologize if I'm a slight noob at this and may be missing something.
Noel....great idea to download a few updates at a time.

Hmm, you can't boot from the Vista dvd? Make sure you press a key when it asks you to "press a key to boot from the CD/DVD".

If that doesn't even show up, it might be a hardware failure...
