New build won't start

The green light on the motherboard is on, but pressing the power button doesn't get any response at all, from the case fans or anything.

I was extremely careful about static electricity, but reading too many message board posts has made me paranoid that I've wrecked one of the components without realizing it.

Any help would be unbelievably appreciated, the computer is just sitting there driving me crazy.

Well, to start off simple, check and recheck the wiring from the on-off switch

Especially where it plugs to the mobo. Those little connectors are easy to mess up on.

If that doesn't help, I'd take everything out of the case. Just install the cpu/HSF, one stick of RAM, and the video card. With the PSU connected and on, you'll have that green light, then just short the power switch pins briefly with a screwdriver and see if everything spins up.

good luck
