I'm building a new system for a friend consisting of an Asus P5K-E motherboard and an Intel E6750 CPU along with 2gb of Mushkin extreme memory (Micron D9 chips, PC2 6400).
For some reason the system refuses to post. All the fans run normally, the motherboard has power, but there is no beep or any video. I've tried another video card in the system and using only 1 stick of ram, but still no beep. I know the speaker is plugged in properly as well. Plugging a keyboard into USB also appears to get no power, as hitting capslock or numlock doesn't turn on the light indicators either.
I'm thinking about re-checking the CPU since I haven't installed an Intel processor in like 5 years now. (I had no idea they moved to a pinless design that just uses metal contacts instead, for example) But I don't see what it will accomplish, as the CPUs are keyed to only go in one way and I've installed 3 of these same Thermaltake Blue Orb HSF before.
Anyone got some ideas? At this rate it's looking like maybe I have to send back the motherboard and/or CPU.
